A banged elbow
Hair caught in a car door
Chipped cup of lukewarm oversweet tea
Morning.
I take this lipstick-toothed lack of grace as a warning.
A bar cupboard
No good books in the house
Murder She Wrote I've seen before on TV
Afternoon.
I hope this stuttering segment of time will end soon.
An early closing
All my friends in couples
Ladder in my tights broken heel frayed hem
Evening.
I somersault smiles and count cracks in the ceiling.
A prickly heat
Can't sleep for trying
Saccharine song looping from next door again
Night.
I breathe dust and cobwebs and turn out the light.
