What If

What if we’d moved from friendly flicks
To the back row of the pictures
And not the cheaper option of rented DVDs.

What if we’d let our quiet evening drinks
Fuel sweet liquor tasting kisses
And not special offer wine on our settees.

What if we’d moved together tongue-tied
In hot butterfly-anxious embrace
And not the same quick hug, bus home routine.

What if we’d let our days turn to nights and slide
A sleeping smile to humid dawn caress -
And what if I actually say what I mean.
