How many punches can you roll with before you’re just a punch bag?
Is there a limit - the referee’s count of ten -
Will there be a time she won’t get up again?
Is a good sport just a nice name for a loser -
Is that the reason the men never choose her
To dance or love and move to marriage?
How many times can she shrug it off laughing before becoming the joke?
The set up, the gag-line, the knock-down surprise
Will there be a time the smile won’t reach her eyes?
Is there a time when this writing won’t give solace?
When this isn’t a line to a future full of promise,
It’s just sorting through the wreckage.
